In 2011, I received a Diploma (with honors) in Computer Science with a minor in business economics from RWTH Aachen University. During my studies, I spent one year abroad at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausenne (EPFL), Switzerland where I learnt french and ate cheese.
2011 to 2012, I freelanced as a Data Analyst for Zalando SE in Berlin. Using data mining and machine learning, I predicted fraud and product returns.
I started my PhD in 2012 at the institute for Communication and Distributed Systems (COMSYS). I spent 1.5 years as a guest researcher at Philips Research Europe, Eindhoven, Netherlands working on lightweight security and privacy for smart lighting products in the IoT. I earned my PhD in December 2017. My PhD thesis focuses on the design of digital services with strong cryptographic guarantees of data security and privacy based on secure two- and multi-party computation and other advanced non-cryptographic primitives such as Differential Privacy.
Since August 2017, I have been working as co-founder and the Head of IT of aedifion GmbH, an EXIST-funded spin-off of the Institute for Energy Efficient Buildings and Indoor Climate at RWTH Aachen. aedifion specializes in AI-driven monitoring, optimization, and control of non-residential buildings.
